Abstract: People usually pay little attention to the shape when designing a die, though the shape plays an important role in influencing the inner stress,The resonable share of a die can notably reduce it's stress and raise it's life span,This Faper calculated the stress of thrce differently shaped bending dies using finite element method,The result showed that there Is much difference between the stresses of these dies.It is proved that optimum shape design is an important factor to raise the level of designing a die.This paper prov- ides a thoretical basis for optimizing the shapes of dies.
