Abstract: This paper deals with the influence of different carbon contents of the case on the fatigue property through the contact fatigue、bending fatigue and multiple impact tests. The fracture of contact fatigue sample was observed and analysed with scanning electroscope and stress measurement. In the light of the fracture mechanism, the influence of carbon content of carburizing case on the location of the contact fatigue failure is discribed. At the same time, the ideal microstructure and the optimum surface carbon content of case were discussed.
