Influence of Individual and Public Health Spending on the Gap between Urban and Rural Residents Income

Abstract: Health is as important as education, and also the main part of human capital. So the health status will influence on people's income. The health status is affected by many factors, but mainly on the health investment, including public part and personal part. This paper analyze the influence of individual and public health spending on the gap between urban and rural residents income after 1980 in China. The results show that the increasing proportion of urban and rural health care expenditures spending, the increasing the income gap between urban and rural residents. But the increasing public health spending and rural social security investment proportion will benefit for narrow the income gap between urban and rural residents.
