Abstract: Water level control of reservoir is a new subject in the hydropower plant automatic control field. Aimed at this issue,through establishment of mathematical model,this paper came up with an approach that PLC takes up the main role as controlling reservoir water level. In the mode of close-loop control,the approach adopts PID controller giving orders to the units,which leads to adjustment of reservoir water level achieved by regulating unit MW output,realizing the technology of joint control of water level by the unit. This approach has been proven desirable in the practical use.
