Abstract: To solve the problem of inefficient double-buoy direct drive wave energy conversion system, a system optimization method is presented based on the Proportional Integral Derivative(PID) control. Firstly, the operating characteristics of the outer buoy of the wave energy conversion system under natural conditions are calculated in line with the theory of wave mechanics. The results indicate that the low efficiency of wave energy conversion is attributed to the effect of wave frequency, vertical wave speed and wave period, which hinders the resonance of the vertical speeds of wave and the outer buoy. After the adoption of the PID control algorithm to optimize and control the system, the efficiency of wave energy conversion is significantly improved. Detailed analysis and simulation results show that the PID control method proposed in this paper is effective and feasible.
