Experimental Study on the Operation of Deep Sea In-Situ Core Sampling Apparatus

Abstract: According to the in-situ core sampling demand of deep sea submersibles, this paper analyzes the operation mechanism and forces of core drill under the conditions of low temperature, high pressure and variable bottom currents in deep sea. Then cemented carbide drill and polycrystalline diamond compact(PDC) drill are selected to calculate the axial force, tangential force, coring power and other parameters in order to design the four-tooth PDC drill. On the basis of theoretical analysis, this paper carries out drilling experiment research using the deep-sea cobalt crust bench test scheme. Through theoretical calculation and experimental research,this paper explores a cobalt crust micro drill design method based on deep-sea vehicles, and determines the selection ranges of basic parameters, including power, speed, drilling positive pressure and coring rate, which has guiding significance for conducting deep sea in-situ core sampling operations.
