Experimental Study on Ultrasonic Doppler Measurement of the Velocity of Seafloor Leakage Bubbles

Abstract: The velocity of seafloor leakage bubbles is an important parameter to measure the gas flow from seafloor cold spring leakage. In order to measure the velocity of seafloor leakage bubbles, an ultrasonic Doppler measurement method is proposed in this paper using the principle of ultrasonic Doppler measurement and secondary Doppler effect. In accordance with the principles of ultrasonic Doppler measurement, a device is designed for measuring bubble flow, so as to calculate the velocity of seafloor leakage bubbles through Doppler frequency shift. Meanwhile, the velocity of leakage bubbles is also measured by the video method. From the confidence level error of 95% t distribution of bubble velocity data form the Doppler and video methods, it can be concluded that the fluctuation of bubble velocity data from the video method is larger than that from the Doppler method, proving the effectiveness and accuracy of ultrasonic Doppler measurement of the velocity of seafloor leakage bubbles, which is better than the method of video measuring.
