The Effects of Dipping and Heat Flux on the Combustion Performance of Wood

Abstract: By using cone calorimeter,the combustion performance of China Fir and Cathay poplar was tested before and after fire retardant treatment with a view to analyze its variation before and after the process.At the same time,cone calorimeter was also used to launch researches on the influence of different heat influx imposed on the combustion performance of Cathay poplar before fire retardant treatment.Tests results showed that the flaming combustion do not happen to wood with fire retardant treatment.And the fire-retardant-treated wood has a sharp decrease of heat release rate and smoke production in comparison with non-treated wood which improves its fireproof performance and safety performance in application.The heat release rate curves of both wood before fire retardant treatment have two crests while those of the treated ones take a slow growth.The researches also find that there exists certain exponential relation between the heat flux and ignition time for the Cathay poplar before fire retardant treatment.
