Abstract: As a necessary utensil for home and office,furniture is related to people’s life closely.The major source of harmful substances in furniture include formaldehyde,benzene,toluene,xylene,TVOC,and other volatile organic compounds as well as soluble heavy metals such as lead,chromium,cadmium,and mercury.So the revision of standard GB 18584-2001 《Indoor decorating and refurbishing materials- limit of harmful substances of wood based furniture 》has attracted many attentions of the whole society.Based on the introduction of the background and amending of the standard process,This paper has carried on the comprehensive interpretation of the standard content with a view to help people understand the standard of technical requirements so as to facilitate the smooth implement of the standard.
