Structural Optimized Design for the First Generation of Domestic Argo Floats

Abstract: Argo Floats, also called self-floating profiling floats, are designed for long-term deployment in the marine environment, specialized for automatic profiling measurement of ocean subsurface temperature, salinity and depth. The first generation of domestic Argo floats needs technological upgrading for resolving a series of problems due to faults in the structural arrangement of floats, including higher center of gravity, deviation from the center line of the floats, and small battery capacity, which caused the Argo floats to have lower stability and detection cycle compared with overseas novel Argo floats. In view of the above problems, this paper mainly introduces the structural optimized design of the Argo floats, calculation method and relative experimental verification.
