Abstract: Since the 17 th century, the Wangye(heavenly seigniors)belief in Southern Fujian Province has widely spread in a lot of former South China Sea countries with multi-ethnic disciples. The cases among Malaysia,Thailand,Indonesia,Myanmar and Vietnam prove that the current influences of such international Wangye belief has shown its strong impacts with the fruitful international perspective, historic impacts and regional localization of every Wangye belief.Though presented in different versions, temples and areas, the Wangye belief witnessed the history of relationship and network among the neighboring Chinese communities, carrying the accumulation of localized experience and cultural elements which ensured the localization of Wangye’s folk activities. In addition, the historic Wangye belief in many regions has evolved as the cohesion symbol of local Chinese pioneering history, where the disciples treated the Wangye as the patron saint or "collective ancestors" of their communities.Following the improvement of local health care services, the contemporary public idea of Wangye belief may not stop at the stage that regarded the Wangye as the guardian against "plague, disease and ghosts".Most regional viewpoints honor the Wangye as the spiritual master as well as traditional model for social values, cultural identity and for the inheritance of ancestral memories.
