The morphology indexes of different Alfalfa cultivars in Northwest of HeBei

Abstract: In order to screen suitable Alfalfa cultivars in Northwest of He Bei Province,10 cultivars were selected as materials and the comparison test was conducted in Baxia Area. By measuring the above ground indexes,the crown indexes and the root indexes,the suitability of different cultivars of Alfalfa was evaluated using the variance analysis and clustering analysis. The results showed that the morphological indexes were obviously different among the tested materials. The indexes of Zhong Mu No. 1,YL80 and Zhong Cao No. 3 were in advantageous positions. In addition,through clustering analysis,the Alfalfa cultivars can be divided into three categories: the first category includes only YL 80; the second category includes Zhong Mu no. 1 and Zhong Cao No. 3; the rest belongs to the third class. Accordingly,Zhong Mu No. 1,YL80 and Zhong Cao No. 3 can be planted as advantageous varieties in local area.
