Abstract: As a new type of underwater glider with many advantages, the disk-shaped underwater glider has been widely used in recent years. The hydraulic buoyancy control system, attitude control system and steering control system must all be installed inside the pressure housing. Therefore, as for the design of the pressure-proof shell,minimum weight and maximum effective volume are the important technical indicators in its design. In order to obtain the optimal structure, the size optimization method is adopted to optimize the design of the pressure-proof shell with the thickness of the shell and the height of the two ring ribs as the design variables. The design is expected to achieve the lightweight target with sufficient strength and maximum deformation less than the allowable deformation and the minimum mass. After the optimization process, the quality is reduced by 30%compared with the initial design, so the effect of light weight is obvious, and the final selection of the structure has passed buckling analysis, with its critical pressure far greater than the allowable pressure.
