Abstract: Ocean turbulence mixing plays an important role in the exchange of ocean energy and waters. At present, the depiction of ocean turbulence is mainly achieved through field observation on turbulence. More indepth research on ocean turbulence depends on the rapid measurement equipment with higher resolution. In China, however, the development of turbulence observing equipment is still at the initial stage. The sensors used for domestic turbulence instrument are mainly the shear sensor types, which has the problem of vibration of the instrument affecting the observation precision. In the process of understanding the formation and change of turbulence, a new method of turbulence observation is proposed based on fast temperature change. Aiming at this method, this paper presents a design method based on FP07 self-containing fixed-point marine turbulence instruments. The development of the principle prototype fot large-depth observation and large-capacity storage is completed for deep-sea subsurface mooring. The prototype has been tested at sea, and the testing results show that the turbulence dissipation rate is feasible and correct.
