Evaluation of the Effect of WeChat in Health Education for Diabetic Patients

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effect of WeChat platform on health education of diabetic patients. Methods A total of 100 diabetic patients who took part in health examination from March 2015 to May 2016 were selected and divided into observation group and control group according to random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was given traditional health education, including carrying out diabetes knowledge health courses, using diabetes knowledge publicity board, issuing diabetes knowledge publicity brochures, receiving telephone counseling, etc; the observation group used the We Chat public number and the establishment of diabetes knowledge micro channel group to carry out diabetes knowledge education. At the time of physical examination after 3 months, the changes of diabetes knowledge, biochemical indexes, and patient satisfaction were compared between the two groups.. Results At the time of reexamination, the levels of fasting plasma glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, and glycosylated hemoglobin, the knowledge level of diabetes, and the satisfaction degree of patient were better than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion WeChat platform has a better effect on health education of patients with diabetes than traditional health education, which is in favor of patients’ ’blood sugar control and improvement of patients’ knowledge of diabetes.
