Abstract: With the development of silicon photonic technology,silicon photonicintegrated devices have been widely used in optical signal processing.In physical dimensions,an optical signal can be varied in five dimensions including time,amplitude and phase,polarization,wavelength and space.The corresponding multiplexing technologies are time division multiplexing(TDM),high-order modulation formats,polarization division multiplexing(PDM),wavelength division multiplexing(WDM)and space division multiplexing(SDM),respectively.In our research,we focus on three dimensions including wavelength,polarization and mode to process optical signal.In this paper,we present three types of silicon photonic devices for optical signal processing.We experimentally demonstrate optical filtering,polarization splitting and rotating,and mode(de)multiplexing and switching in silicon devices.These silicon photonic devices provide more freedom for on-chip optical signal processing,and have a great potential in practical applications.
