Maintenance Planning Method of Tension Leg Platform Based on the Dynamic Reliability Evaluation Technique

Abstract: Combined with the characteristics of tension leg platform(TLP) in its life cycle and putting forward a TLP maintenance scheme based on dynamic reliability plays an important part in reducing platform maintenance cost and guaranteeing the security of the platform. The derivation, verification of the mathematical model and the maintenance planning of TLP are investigated in this paper. Firstly, the Weibull equation and fatigue life are respectively used to represent the effects of corrosion and fatigue. Then a mathematical model is proposed to evaluate the dynamic reliability of offshore production platform. Secondly, the Monte-Carlo method is used to verify the rationality of the dynamic reliability calculation data of key joints of TLP. Finally, based on the result of dynamic reliability calculation, the maintenance planning of TLP is made by combining the fuzzy mathematics theory. Results show that the proposed dynamic reliability model is in line with the variation trend of offshore production platform’s reliability. For the TLP whose design life is 25 years, through the maintenance planning method proposed in this paper, only 5 repairs are required to the key joints of the platform, which can ensure the platform’s safety state during its service period.
