Study of Electroless Plating of Ni-Fe Alloy on Triplochiton Sclexcylon Veneer

Abstract: Triplochiton sclexcylon veneer were used as substrates for investigating the plating conditions and the properties of the veneers before and after electroless plating. The results showed that the optimum conditions were as follows: pH value 9.2 and 90 ℃ for 40 min. The electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of the plated could exceeded 45 dB. The coating was continuous and compact, meanwhile, the texture of the wood was still retained. Ni was the main element in the coating and the coating was crystalline.The corrosion potential and corrosion current density of the coating were -0.301 V and 7.58 × 10-6 A/cm2,respectively. Compared to Ni-P binary alloy, the corrosion resistance was significantly improved.
